BRIEF DESCRIPTION
In this online and on-site course, we will explore the essential elements required for ensuring successful ECMO operations, aiming to provide patient-centered and safe treatment. The course will cover topics including the history of ECMO, the structure of ECMO teams and the roles of participants, technical aspects of equipment and systems, patient selection, pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment considerations, as well as the management of complications.
SUMMARY
The theoretical part of this training course consists of the following modules:
- Module 1: Introduction to ECMO and its history. Structure of the ECMO team.
- Module 2: Structure of ECMO circuit and equipment. Initiation strategies.
- Module 3: Patient selection. ECMO indications and contraindications.
- Module 4: Physiological changes during ECMO; Basic principles of pharmacological and non-pharmacological ECMO treatment.
- Module 5: Common complications and actions during ECMO.
- Module 6: Criteria for discontinuation of ECMO. Ethical aspects.
- The practical part consists of two modules:
- Module 1: Working with ECMO equipment and its components.
- Module 2: Clinical cases (including life case demonstrations).
